The Wayne State University baseball team was defeated by Grand Valley State University in a four-game series, with the Lakers completing a victory in the series finale. Despite Wayne State out-hitting Grand Valley State 5-3, the Lakers secured a 4-0 win. Wayne State’s next match will be a non-conference game against Findlay scheduled for Tuesday.

Grand Valley State secured the win with two runs in the second inning and two more in the fourth inning. Wayne State’s five hits were distributed among players Caleb Sanders, Mason McGuire, Tony Hatzigeorgiou, and Noah Murciano.

Wayne State’s pitcher, Macio Miller, recorded six innings in his first start since March 28 but was charged with the loss. Miller allowed four earned runs on three hits, with four walks and three strikeouts, throwing 90 pitches.

Ethan Getting came in as relief pitcher for Wayne State and was nearly perfect. He pitched the final two innings, not allowing a hit, issuing two walks, and striking out one batter. Getting threw 39 pitches.
