On Saturday, Feb. 22, former Grosse Pointe North High School standout Maraina Smith’s current college team, the Oakland Golden Grizzlies, lost 6-2 in their NCAA Division I softball game against the Georgia Southern Eagles.
The game took place at Eagle Field. This was their first matchup against the Eagles this season.
The Golden Grizzlies’ next game is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 23 at 12 p.m. at Eagle Field against Campbell Fighting Lady Camels.
Wayne State University’s men’s tennis team ended its season after losing to Northwood University in the NCAA Midwest Regional Tournament on May 11. Despite switching up pairings during doubles play and securing one singles win from Luis Klaus, they were unable to advance further.
Wayne State University’s men’s golf team has been selected for its eighteenth NCAA Midwest/Central Super Regional appearance since 2004. Coach Mike Horn expresses optimism about his team’s performance heading into competition starting May 7.
The Wayne State University men’s golf team is set to open its 2025-26 season at the Glenmoor Invitational hosted by Malone University.
