A recently retired district court judge spoke in favor of Senate Bill 307 at the Senate Health Policy and Human Services committee on Sept. 5.
Linda Davis, who retired in March from the 41B District Court, now works as the executive director of nonprofit Families Against Narcotics.
The judge supports the opioid education bill backed by Sen. Peter Lucindo (R-Shelby Township). This bill will allow young athletes to be educated on the possible dangers that an opioid prescription could have. Many athletes might be prescribed opioids in the event that they sustain an injury.
