CITY OF WAYNE: Wayne Parks and Trails Littering Sign

Webp park 10

City of Wayne issued the following announcement on June 21.

There is annual maintenance and upkeep that goes along with parks and trails like raking leaves, removing overgrown branches and weeds, painting and structure cleaning to name a few.

We have had some incredibly dedicated volunteers over the past 3 years who have spent their Saturday's helping to keep the parks and trails beautiful. We are eternally grateful to them.

We just have one major problem, the litter is abundant.

It appears that no matter how many trash receptacles we place, litter continues to be strewn across the parks and throughout the trails.

It is everyone's job to keep the parks clean and throwing trash on the ground is just plain laziness. Not to mention the cigarette butts that accumulate under the picnic tables where small children have access to them. But more importantly, just a disgusting thing have to constantly pick up.

The volunteers participate in these clean-up's out of the goodness of their hearts, not to serve as minions for those who simply feel that throwing trash in a receptacle is beneath them.

If you do see trash in the park, please do not just walk by it. Throw it away. With the current concerns with COVID-19, keep a pair of disposable gloves on hand expecting that you may need to assist with this deed.

We want to have clean, beautiful and safe parks, but it is a team effort. Thank you for your help everyone.

Harsh sign below. But true.
