Wayne County Judge Bruce Morrow is in the hot seat again over sexually graphic comments he is alleged to have made during a murder trial, as well as inappropriate comments regarding the appearance of female attorneys.
This is not the first time that Morrow has faced misconduct accusations, according to ClickOnDetroit. The Judicial Tenure Commission previously investigated multiple counts against him, with the accusations relating to judicial procedure.
Those proceedings resulted in Morrow being suspended for 90 days in 2014 after being found guilty by the Michigan Supreme Court of 10 counts in eight cases, including taking actions such as refusing to remand a defendant convicted of sexually assaulting a minor, and leaving the bench at the beginning of a trial to shake hands with the defendant.
In the most recent set of accusations, the Judicial Tenure Commission said that all of the alleged conduct is unbecoming of an officer of the court.
Both claims against Morrow came from unidentified female prosecutors, according to ClickOnDetroit. The accusers say that Morrow habitually uses unwelcome sexual tones in the courtroom.
ClickonDetroit's report only included one of the comments Morrow is accused of making during a trial, stating that, “The second count is so sexually explicit, it will not be included.”
However, in one example, Morrow is accused of comparing “getting the medical examiner to state the cause and manner of death after getting the details of his examination of the body,” as being similar to a sexual climax, according to ClickOnDetroit. The prosecutor who filed the complaint alleged that Morrow’s statement “caused the victim to feel frozen and afraid to move.”
Morrow is also accused of asking a female prosecutor whether she weighed 115 pounds, and when she said she didn’t know, he is accused of responding, “Well, I haven’t assessed your muscle mass yet.”
