College for Creative Studies issued the following announcement on Aug. 12.

This past spring, CCS hosted its first ever fashion show, “The Show,” exhibiting a broad range of accessories design work by nine talented Fashion Accessories Design students. Dozens of models walked the 200 foot catwalk, located atop one of CCS’s parking structures, set against the Detroit skyline at dusk.

With many undergraduate senior shows canceled or postponed this spring, members of the class of 2021 were invited to participate in the program’s first catwalk show before a highly selective guest list of attendees. “The Show” featured the senior collections from CCS designers Alore Niemi, Bradley Cannon, Jac Bladow, Fernando Gutierrez, Ava Kaloustian, Josie Teachout, Kelsey Coleman, Isabella Foti, and Lauren Zampaglione, as well as a special performance by contemporary dance outfit, Biba Bell.

“It’s been an honor to have the opportunity to see these students blossom into the talented designers that are before me today,” said Aki Choklat, Chair of CCS’s Fashion Accessories Design program “through their hard work, dedication, and limitless creative spirits, I am proud to send these talented individuals into the world to create and make the world a more beautiful place.”

CCS’s Fashion Accessories Design department was launched in 2015 and has slowly grown into a fashion educational powerhouse focused on the intersection of design and making under the leadership of its chair and advisory board. Students have won several international competitions, collaborated with brands such as Calvin Klein and Eileen Fisher, and landed jobs at companies like Nike, Ralph Lauren, Coach and Kate Spade.
