Description: Have you ever wondered about oil? Its history? It is a fascinating story. In this online program, Karen Jensen will present a series of short lectures on some of the major pivots in oil industry history, including the shifts from whale oil to kerosene, lighting to transportation, petroleum to synthetic oil during World War II, and more. She will be available for a brief Q&A at the end of the talk.
Karen Jensen is the instructor for “Oil: International Evolution” at Penn State University. Her main research focus is on the Middle East and the oil industry. She has visited Egypt and Iraq. She is from Colorado and Wyoming, and currently lives in Pennsylvania with her husband, puppy, and kitty.
