The city’s tree planting program for easements scheduled to end Friday, Sept. 23

The City of Dearborn is committed to protecting trees where possible and providing new trees as needed.

Planting and preservation of trees keep neighborhoods attractive, reduces energy consumption, and supports a healthier environment.

Trees in residential areas are often associated with higher property values, lower crime rates, and even reduced traffic speeds.

Residents can order trees from the city for planting on the easement. Trees are planted in the fall, as this timing supports survival rates. The price of a tree is $225 and the 2022 program is scheduled to run through Friday, Sept. 23. Purchasing a tree from the city includes planting, follow-up care, and a one-year warranty.

For neighborhoods that lost trees due to public construction projects like roads and sewers, the City will plant trees on every property once the project is complete. This includes properties that didn’t previously have trees. These trees will be planted at no cost to the property owner.
