The public is invited to attend the City of Dearborn’s annual Veterans Day Ceremony at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 11 at the Michael A. Guido Theatre, located at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center, 15801 Michigan Ave.
The ceremony is presented in conjunction with the Dearborn Allied War Council (DAWVC), which recently selected the 2022-23 Dearborn Veteran of the Year, United States Marine Corps veteran Phillip Smith.
The Veteran of the Year is chosen based on actions that improve the lives of others following their service, as well as for personal qualities including honor, leadership, compassion, and commitment.
Phillip Smith has shown dedication to the veteran community for decades and has actively advocated for both veterans and their families. He has also served as the Local Coordinating Officer and has been instrumental in the success of the annual Toys for Tots program during the holiday season.
The annual event will also include remarks from Mayor Abdullah H. Hammoud.
