Wayne State swimming teams earn CSCAA Scholar All-America honors

DETROIT -- Both Wayne State University swimming and diving teams were recently recognized by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) as Scholar All-America Teams for the Winter/Spring semester.

The Warriors women's squad, consisting of 24 student-athletes, posted a team GPA of 3.70 for the semester. Only three other schools had at least 20 student-athletes and a higher GPA than WSU: Gannon with a GPA of 3.78 (24 student-athletes), Emmanuel with a GPA of 3.73 (25 student-athletes), and West Florida with a GPA of 3.72 (40 student-athletes).

The Wayne State men's roster, consisting of 27 members, posted a term GPA of 3.14.

Eighteen Warriors also received CSCAA Individual Scholar All-America recognition. To qualify for First Team Scholar All-America, student-athletes must have earned a GPA of 3.5 or higher and participated in their national championship. Second Team selections must have also earned a 3.5 GPA or higher and met a "B" time standard for the national championship or qualified for a diving zone qualification meet.
