In conjunction with the annual GLIAC Football Preseason Media Day held at the Sheraton Grand Rapids Airport Hotel this afternoon, the league office announced the 2024 GLIAC Coaches Preseason Poll, ranking Wayne State sixth.

With head coaches not being allowed to vote for their own school, Ferris State garnered four of seven possible first-place votes and 46 points. Grand Valley State received three first-place votes and finished second with 44 points. Davenport (1 FPV, 38 points), Saginaw Valley State (30 points), and Michigan Tech (26 points) were ahead of the Warriors (20 points). Northern Michigan and GLIAC newcomer Roosevelt rounded out the poll with 13 points and seven points, respectively.

WSU will play four non-conference games in September before embarking on the seven-game GLIAC regular-season schedule. The Warriors start the 2024 campaign against a pair of GMAC (and former GLIAC rivals) schools. Wayne State opens the year on Thursday, September 5th at Tiffin, followed by a home contest on September 14th against Findlay.

WSU concludes the two-year scheduling agreement with GLVC members Indianapolis and Truman State over the next two weeks. The Warriors entertain UIndy on September 21st, followed by the first of two back-to-back long road trips with a contest in Kirksville, Mo., against the TSU Bulldogs.

Wayne State begins GLIAC competition with a trek to Houghton to face the Michigan Tech Huskies. A home night game against Ferris State on October 12th is followed by an afternoon contest at Davenport on October 19th. Homecoming/Hall of Fame weekend has Saginaw Valley State visiting Tom Adams Field for a 1 p.m. kickoff.

The three-game November slate starts with an afternoon tilt at Grand Valley State on November 2nd, followed by back-to-back home games against Roosevelt (November 9th) and Northern Michigan (November 16th).
