Wayne State University men's tennis head coach Bryan Morrow, entering his 17th season, has recruited six newcomers to replace a highly successful graduating class that reached the national quarterfinals three consecutive years and played in the national championship match in 2022.

The incoming freshmen include George Day (Southampton, United Kingdom / Peter Symonds College), Max Faniel (Theux, Belgium / Collège Saint-François-Xavier S.S.), Sam Knowles (North Shields, Tyne and Wear, England), and Tom Wasner (Hamburg, Germany / Friedrichsort Community School).

Additionally, Luis Klaus from Brühl, Germany will join as a graduate student at WSU this fall. Ben King is transferring from Concordia-Ann Arbor (New Hudson, Mich. / South Lyon East).

"My coaching staff and I are all very excited for all of our incoming players," remarked Morrow. "We will have a very different team this year but the new players and coaches are looking forward to the challenges. Our four freshmen - George Day, Maxence Faniel, Tom Wasner and Sam Knowles - can't wait to begin their college journey. Ben King is looking to begin his sophomore year at WSU while Luis Klaus will begin his journey at WSU as a graduate student.

"I feel that this recruiting class is very strong both in the classroom and on the court. We are all ready to GET TO WORK!!!!"

George Day is a 6-foot-5 freshman from Southampton who graduated from Peter Symonds College in Winchester, Hampshire. He reached the national tournament two years consecutively finishing seventh and 11th.

Max Faniel hails from Theux, Belgium. He graduated from Collège Saint-François-Xavier Secondary School in Verviers.

Sam Knowles is a 6-foot-3 freshman from North Shields who maintained a 4.00 GPA throughout his prep career at King's Priory School in Tynemouth.
