Wayne State University's women's cross country team, ranked 23rd nationally, commenced their 2024 season with a victory at the Northwood Invitational on Saturday. The event took place at the Fisher Family Trails in Midland, Michigan.

The team had six runners finish among the top seven in the five-kilometer race. Senior Reagan Justice from Canton, Michigan, and junior Briana Vojinov from Brownstown, Michigan, secured first and second places with times of 17:48.60 and 18:00.40 respectively. Taylor Hopkins of Sanford, Michigan finished fourth with a time of 18:26.10. Following her were Anna Gdowski (Northville, Mich.) at 18:37.20, Emily Gordon (Northville, Mich.) at 18:37.90, and Robin Bresolin (LaSalle, Ont.) at 18:39.10.

Other notable finishers included Aubrey Migoski (Wyandotte, Mich.) in 15th place with a time of 19:10.20 and Annalee Misch (Macomb, Mich.) in 16th place clocking in at 19:10.70.

Coach Lofdahl expressed satisfaction with the team's performance stating, "I was impressed with our women as a whole today. Reagan and Bri ran pretty fast for a glorified workout, and our two big packs worked very well together." He added that it was an excellent debut for Taylor Hopkins and Anna Gdowski in Warrior uniforms.

Wayne State will next host the Sixth Annual Warrior Challenge at Willow Metropark located in New Boston, Michigan on September 14th at 5:00 pm.
