The Wayne State University men's golf team commenced its 2024-25 season on Saturday at Saginaw Valley State's Al Watrous Invitational. After 18 holes at Sawmill Golf Club, the Warriors' "B" squad holds second place with a score of 290 (+2) among the 14-team field, while the "A" team is in fifth place with a score of 297 (+9).

"We had a tough day all around in our first go," said head coach Mike Horn. "We had a few guys get it going early, but faded near the end. I think we learned a lot about the golf course and where we can attack, so tomorrow should be a much better day. Everybody played adequate, but we need more than that to compete at this level. With a good day tomorrow, we should put ourselves in a nice position."
