The Wayne State University women's golf team leads the nine-team field after the first day of the inaugural Warrior Invitational at The Orchards Golf Club in Washington, Michigan. The team scored a 308 (+20) on Monday, with Claudia Portillo from Madrid, Spain, leading individually among 51 players with an even 72.
"It was a really solid first round for us today," said head coach Larry Hamilton. "We are really looking forward to keeping that momentum into tomorrow."
Wayne State's individual performances included Portillo in first place with a score of 72 (E), Ting-Yu Kuo tied for fifth with 77 (+5), Sabel Imesch tied for ninth with 79 (+7), Sophia Wygonik tied for thirteenth with 80 (+8), and Orianna Bylsma in forty-fifth place with 92 (+20).
