Wayne State University's volleyball team embarked on its first road trip of the season, participating in Parkside's Hampton Inn Invitational. The Warriors played two matches on Friday, facing Upper Iowa and Lake Erie.
In their first match against Upper Iowa, Wayne State narrowly lost in five sets. The Peacocks out-hit the Warriors with a .285 efficiency compared to Wayne State's .274. Despite the loss, Molly Miller delivered an impressive performance with 25 kills and 11 digs, marking her third double-double of the season. Kayla Dulgar contributed significantly with 48 assists and nine digs. The match was closely contested across all major categories.
The second match saw Wayne State bounce back with a victory over Lake Erie in four sets. The Warriors maintained a consistent attack efficiency of .270 and excelled at the net with 21 total blocks compared to Lake Erie's 15. Molly Miller again led in kills with 18, while Kayla Giroux continued her strong start to the season with 15 kills and eight blocks.
Looking ahead, Wayne State will face Ohio Dominican for a second time this season and then take on Northern State.
