Wayne State University's volleyball team concluded its participation in the Hampton Inn Invitational with two losses. The Warriors, now 2-5 overall, faced Ohio Dominican and Northern State at Parkside's De Simone Arena on Saturday.
In their first match against Ohio Dominican, Wayne State was defeated in five sets. Despite hitting .175 compared to Ohio Dominican's .205, the Warriors managed 43 kills and committed 21 errors over 126 attacks. Kayla Giroux led her team with 13 kills and a .310 hitting percentage. Molly Miller also reached double figures with 11 kills and added 10 digs for her third double-double of the season. Maya Wegand recorded a career-high of 11 digs.
Ohio Dominican held advantages in several areas including points, kills, service aces, assists, and digs.
In their second match against Northern State, Wayne State lost in four sets. Northern State achieved a hitting percentage of .269 while Wayne State hit .187. Molly Miller topped all players with 21 kills. Kayla Dulgar contributed significantly with 40 assists and matched her personal record for reaching this mark for the third time this season.
The tournament's All-Tournament Team included Nicole Dupre from Wayne State along with players from Northern State, Parkside, Upper Iowa, Ohio Dominican, and Lake Erie.
Wayne State will next face Davenport at home as they begin GLIAC play on Friday at Matthaei.
