Wayne State University's volleyball team faced a challenging match against Ferris State University, resulting in the end of their four-match winning streak. The Warriors, with a record of 9-14 overall and 4-8 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC), traveled to face the Bulldogs, who are ranked No. 16 and boast a record of 20-4 overall and an undefeated 13-0 in GLIAC.
The match began with Wayne State taking the first set but losing momentum in the subsequent sets, ultimately falling to Ferris State. The Warriors initially took control by outscoring Ferris State towards the end of the first set, hitting .371 compared to Ferris's .167. However, Ferris State responded strongly in the second set with a decisive run that tied the match at one set each.
Wayne State briefly led early in the third set before Ferris State gained a significant lead and maintained it until closing out that set. The fourth set was competitive with multiple ties and lead changes until Ferris State secured victory by winning nine of the final eleven points.
Key performances for Wayne State included Molly Miller leading with 19 kills, supported by Katie Smith and Ella Uganski who each contributed ten kills. Kayla Dulgar delivered two aces along with notable assists totaling 36 for the night. Dulgar also achieved her ninth double-double this season.
One critical aspect of the game was Ferris State's superior hitting efficiency at .316 compared to Wayne State's .137.
