Sophomore middle blocker Kayla Giroux and freshman setter Kayla Dulgar have been recognized with All-GLIAC honors, as announced by the league. Giroux has been named First Team All-GLIAC for the second consecutive year, while Dulgar received an Honorable Mention.
Giroux maintained her impressive performance in 2023 after a successful rookie season where she was honored as AVCA Midwest Freshman of the Year in 2022. This fall, she achieved a hitting percentage of .354, ranking 45th nationally with 321 kills and only 85 errors on 667 total attacks. Her performance tied a school record set in 2019 by Olivia Fike. In terms of defensive play, Giroux accumulated 87 total blocks, placing ninth in the league.
Head coach Tim Koth praised Giroux's accomplishments: "Kayla Giroux is an elite middle in this conference and region," he said. "She's very deserving of her First Team All-GLIAC selection."
In her first year taking over from Kamryn Duffield, Kayla Dulgar excelled by leading the GLIAC with both total assists (1,104) and assists per set (10.04), which rank her 18th and 38th in Division II respectively. She was recognized twice as GLIAC Setter of the Week during October and was included on two All-Tournament Teams at Ferris State Invitational and Midwest Regional Crossover.
Coach Koth commented on Dulgar's achievements: "Kayla Dulgar had an outstanding freshman campaign," he noted. "She led the GLIAC in total assists and assists per set."
Both players have shown significant potential within their respective roles this season.
