Wayne State University's women's swimming and diving team emerged victorious in their first GLIAC dual of the 2024-25 season, defeating Davenport with a score of 147-90. The event took place at the Matthaei Natatorium on Friday night.
Head coach Sean Peters praised both teams for their performances. "The Wayne State and Davenport meet featured a lot of excellent performances all around," he said. "I commend our opponents for a very strong showing, and the Warriors were challenged in many areas. I was very delighted with how we responded to those challenges, and excited about the many strong performances the Warriors put up tonight."
The Warriors secured wins in eight out of 13 events. Victorious athletes included Alli Vassilakos in both the 1000 free (10:18.86 - NCAA B Cut) and 500 free (5:04.88), Barbara Munoz in the 200 free (1:56.39) and 200 fly (2:11.24), Sabine Branford in the 50 free (25.07), Kate Rhodes in the 100 free (54.58), and Wen Wadsworth-Curcuru who excelled in both diving events with scores of 243.38 on the 1-meter board and 234.75 on the 3-meter board.
