Wayne State University's women's tennis team is preparing to host the WSU Doubles Invitational on Saturday, October 19. The event will take place at the WSU Tennis Courts, beginning at 10:00 A.M., marking the final tournament of the fall season for the team.
Recently, four athletes from Wayne State competed in the ITA Cup held in Rome, Georgia. These players were Martyna Szpakowska, Malak Arafat, Anais Ruyssen, and Dea Gorgidze. They concluded their participation with a combined record of two wins and two losses.
The upcoming invitational will see Wayne State's Warriors competing against teams from Oakland University and Findlay University. Wayne State will enter four doubles teams into the competition:
1. Malak Arafat from Alexandria, Egypt and Martyna Szpakowska from Gdansk, Poland
2. Dessyre Obedencio from Warren, Michigan and Shanice Weekes from London, England
3. Dea Gorgidze from Tbilisi, Georgia and Anais Ruyssen from Nantes, France
4. Justine Beaulieu from Montreal, Quebec and Shantala Uzcategui from Hoyo de La Puerta, Venezuela
