Wayne State women's golf ranks fourth after day one at Davenport Invitational

The Wayne State University women's golf team is currently in fourth place after the first day of the Davenport Panther Invitational, held in Augusta, Michigan. This marks their final tournament for the fall schedule of the 2024-25 season.

Leading the Warriors individually is Sabel Imesch from Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan. She is tied for fifth place with a score of 74 (+2). Other notable performances include Sophia Wygonik from Westland, Michigan, who is tied for eighth with a score of 75 (+3), and Claudia Portillo from Madrid, Spain, who stands at fifteenth with a score of 77 (+5).

In terms of team standings, Saginaw Valley State and Davenport are currently tied for first place with scores of 296 (+8). Gannon holds third place at 305 (+17), just ahead of Wayne State's score of 306 (+18). The competition includes a total of thirteen teams.

The tournament will continue on Sunday with all teams scheduled to start at 10 a.m. using a shotgun format.
