The Wayne State University men's golf team secured their fourth consecutive victory at the Ken Venturi Invitational hosted by Trine University in Angola, Indiana. The tournament took place on Tuesday at Zollner Golf Course, where the Warriors finished with a score of 290 (+6). Andrew Daily from Brighton, Michigan led the team to success with an individual score of 70 (-1), placing him at the top of the leaderboard.
Head coach Mike Horn praised Daily's performance: "Outstanding play by Andrew Daily for his first collegiate win." Horn also highlighted Shawn Sehra's impressive start to the day, stating, "Shawn Sehra started the day strong with a hole-in-one on the second hole using an eight iron from 150 yards, dead in the hole, perfectly struck." He acknowledged all players for their efforts under challenging windy conditions on an unfamiliar course. With participation from 20 teams, Horn considered it "a real good showing on a little tougher than expected university course."
The individual performances of Warrior golfers were notable among a total of 110 participants. Alongside Daily's first-place finish, Ian Smith and Shawn Sehra both tied for third with scores of 73 (+2). Josh Lahner achieved a tie for ninth place scoring 74 (+3), while Luc Warnock finished tied for thirteenth with a score of 75 (+4).
Wayne State's next challenge is scheduled at Findlay's Doc Spragg Fall Invitational set to take place at Findlay Country Club in Ohio on October 14-15.
