The Wayne State University men's golf team concluded their fall season with a victory at the HawksHead Invitational in South Haven, Michigan. The No. 24 ranked team secured their fifth win out of six tournaments by posting a two-round score of 565 (-11), which included an impressive second round score of 276.
Head coach Mike Horn expressed his delight, stating, "I am speechless as we came back for a fourth time this fall and pulled out a win with an amazingly superior round." He also praised Shawn Sehra for achieving his first medalist honor in college. Horn added, "The coaching staff and the entire team is so happy and proud for Shawn as well as excellent play from Andrew Daily."
Shawn Sehra, playing for Wayne State's "B" team, won his first solo title with a 36-hole total of 139 (-5). His performance included a second-round score of 66, just one stroke shy of the school's all-time low.
In addition to Sehra's achievement, several members of the WSU "A" team performed notably. Andrew Daily finished second individually with a score of 140 (-4), followed by Josh DiCarlo at third place with 141 (-3). Mat Hawryluk tied for fourth place with a score of 142 (-2).
The Warriors ended their fall season with an overall record of 68-3. They will resume competition in March when they begin their spring schedule.
