Wayne State University's men's golf team is set to conclude its fall season by hosting the HawksHead Invitational this weekend at the HawksHead Golf Course in South Haven, Michigan. The tournament will take place on Saturday and Sunday, with tee times starting at 9 a.m. both days.
Head coach Mike Horn expressed enthusiasm for the team's performance this season, saying, "We are excited about our fall season and would love to cap off the campaign with the win." He acknowledged that teams such as Ohio Dominican and Parkside are strong contenders aiming for NCAA Tournament spots. Horn added, "Roosevelt has been solid and will be up and coming. We can't take anybody for granted."
Horn emphasized the importance of preparation for future competitions: "With a good showing, this should be a great sendoff to our off-season. We will have to be physically and mentally prepared to come out in the spring and be strong right from the very first event."
The starting lineup for Wayne State includes Josh DiCarlo from Amherstburg, Ontario; Mat Hawryluk from Chatham, Ontario; Max Leppelmeier from Wauseon, Ohio; Tyler Hurtubise from Essex, Ontario; and Andrew Daily from Brighton, Michigan.
The "B" team consists of Josh Lahner from Roselle, Illinois; Luc Warnock from McGregor, Ontario; Ian Smith from Canton, Michigan; Shawn Sehra from Windsor, Ontario; and Harrison Chapman from Marshall, Michigan.
Individual participants include Chandler Stodolak from Standish, Michigan and Tommy Gebeck from Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan.
The tournament field comprises teams such as Ohio Dominican, Parkside, Roosevelt along with Wayne State's "A" and "B" teams.
