The Wayne State University women's fencing team concluded its participation in the Central Collegiate Fencing Conference Championships with individual competitions on Sunday at the French Field House in Columbus, Ohio. The standout performance came from sophomore Ludovica Mancini, who secured second place in the Senior Women's Foil category, marking the best result for any Warrior women's fencer.
Competitors across three categories began with an initial pool round that included all participants. The top performers advanced to a second pool round, and subsequently, the top eight moved to the direct elimination table. Three Warriors achieved individual recognition for their performances.
In the Senior Women's Foil category, Ludovica Mancini excelled with a 4-1 record in Pool #1 and improved to 5-1 in Pool #2. She advanced as the two seed into direct elimination, defeating Denison's Lai Ertun 15-10 and Northwestern's Rowan Park 15-12 before facing Ohio State's Dariia Myroniuk in the finals. Mancini finished second after falling 15-7 to Myroniuk.
In Senior Women's Epee, Salma Abdrabou and Reka Galfalvy both advanced through two pools but were eliminated in the Round of 8 by opponents from Ohio State and Northwestern respectively. Galfalvy finished fifth overall while Abdrabou took sixth place.
