The Wayne State University women's swimming and diving team achieved a second-place finish at the 2024 GLIAC Championships held in Holland, Michigan. The team scored a total of 743 points, competing against four other squads. Graduate student Jordan Fox from Melbourne, Australia, was honored as the GLIAC Swimmer of the Year. Senior Mikaela Senkus from Macomb, Michigan, received the GLIAC Diver of the Year award for the second consecutive year.
Head coach Sean Peters expressed his satisfaction with the team's performance, stating: "Overall, having the Warriors finish second place with the women and third place with the men is absolutely fantastic! We swam and dove so well against some of the toughest competition in the country, and we really threw everything we had into this meet."
Peters highlighted several achievements during the event: "We saw a few team and meet records fall this weekend... We proudly represented the 313."
In terms of final standings, Grand Valley State led with 999 points. Wayne State followed with 743 points while Northern Michigan secured third place with 726 points.
Key performances included Alli Vassilakos winning first place in the 1650 Free with an NCAA A Cut time and setting a GLIAC Overall Record. Barbara Munoz and Megan Sieloff also earned NCAA B Cuts in their respective events.
Jordan Fox clinched first place in the 200 Back Championship Final with an NCAA B Cut time. In relay events, Wayne State's team set a new GLIAC Meet Record in the 400 Free Relay.
