Wayne State University's softball team faced a challenging day on Tuesday, losing both games in a doubleheader against Ferris State University. The matches, part of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC), saw Wayne State fall to 12-19 overall and 4-6 in the conference, while Ferris State improved to 19-18 overall and 7-5 in GLIAC play.

In the first game, Ferris State secured a 7-5 victory. The Bulldogs took an early lead with three runs in the first inning, highlighted by a two-run single from Emily Killion. They extended their lead to 5-0 in the second inning with contributions from Alexis Kozlowski. Wayne State responded with a four-run rally in the fourth inning, led by junior Rylie Josephson's three-run double. However, Ferris State added two more runs later to seal their win.

Sophomore Sasha Buckberger started for Wayne State but was charged with the loss after allowing five runs over just over one inning. Freshman Sydney Long pitched the remainder of the game for Wayne State, giving up two earned runs.

The second game ended in a decisive 10-2 win for Ferris State, concluded after five innings due to run rules. Kozlowski continued her strong performance with multiple hits and RBIs, including a two-run double and an RBI triple. For Wayne State, freshman Logan Forman scored on a single by Buckberger in the fourth inning.

Senior Alexis Bonk took the mound for Wayne State but struggled early on, conceding seven earned runs within less than two innings. Buckberger returned to pitch again during this game as well.

Wayne State will look to bounce back quickly as they prepare for another challenge against Grand Valley State at home.
