Wayne State University's softball team is set to continue its Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) schedule with two doubleheaders against Ferris State University and Grand Valley State University. The Warriors, currently holding a 12-17 overall record and 4-4 in the GLIAC, will first travel to Big Rapids for a match against Ferris State on Tuesday at 2 p.m. The following day, Wayne State will host Grand Valley State in Detroit starting at 3:30 p.m.

The games against Ferris State were postponed twice due to weather conditions before being rescheduled for Tuesday. This series marks part of a challenging stretch for the Warriors, who are playing 12 games over nine days.

Historically, Wayne State has an advantage over both teams but has struggled recently. Against Ferris State, they have won 90 out of 138 meetings since 1982 but have lost the last six encounters. Similarly, Wayne State leads Grand Valley State with a record of 72-65-2 in their series history but has been defeated in their last seven matches.

Leading Wayne State's offense is Rylie Josephson with a .427 batting average and Logan Forman leading in RBIs with 21. On the pitching side, Alexis Bonk and Sydney Long share the team's top spot with four wins each.

Ferris State enters the matchup after splitting a doubleheader at Parkside and winning three of their last four games. Freshman Alexis Kozlowski leads the Bulldogs offensively with a .370 batting average and five home runs this season.

Grand Valley State ranks ninth nationally in Division II according to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). They recently swept Davenport before losing both games to Saginaw Valley State. Hannah Hollister stands out for GVSU with her .371 batting average and team-high stolen bases.

Following these matchups, Wayne State will travel west for additional conference games against Parkside and Purdue Northwest on April 13th and April 14th respectively.
