The Wayne State University softball team experienced two narrow defeats against Wisconsin Parkside in a doubleheader held in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The Warriors, with an overall record of 14-21 and 6-8 in the GLIAC, faced losses in both games. Parkside, now standing at 13-24 overall and 4-8 in the GLIAC, managed to clinch the opener with a 5-4 victory, scoring a decisive run in the bottom of the seventh inning. They secured a win in the second game by breaking a tie with two unearned runs in the sixth inning, ending at 7-5.

In the first game, Parkside took an early lead with Mia Johnson's two-run home run. Wayne State responded but fell short despite Sydney Long's three-run homer that tied the game temporarily. "Long (5-9) allowed five earned runs on seven hits in 6.1 innings," while Olivia Fee achieved victory for Parkside by restricting Wayne State to two hits over the final innings.

The second game saw Wayne State initially take a lead but quickly fall behind as Parkside scored four runs in their first batting turn. Despite efforts from Logan Forman and Mady Ruczynski to equalize later in the match, errors allowed Parkside to regain control. Alexis Bonk struggled initially for Wayne State without recording an out before Sasha Buckberger took over pitching duties.

Wayne State’s leading contributors included Josephson and Favela with three hits each. Meanwhile, Johnson was pivotal for Parkside with three RBI across both games.

Looking ahead, Wayne State will continue their series of away games against Purdue Northwest.
