Fox and Vassilakos earn All-America honors at NCAA Division II championships

Wayne State University's women's swimming and diving team made significant progress at the 2024 NCAA Division 2 Swimming and Diving National Championships in Geneva, Ohio. On Friday, the team accumulated 27 points, advancing to 12th place with a total of 86 points as they prepared for the final day of competition on Saturday.

Nova Southeastern currently leads the championship with 381 points. Colorado Mesa follows with 332.5 points, Drury has secured third place with 287.5 points, UIndy holds fourth with 260.5 points, and Lynn rounds out the top five with 152 points.

Graduate student Jordan Fox from Melbourne, Victoria, Australia (Mentone Grammar) and junior Alli Vassilakos from Clarkston, Michigan (Carthage College) earned First Team All-America honors by finishing fourth and seventh in the 500 free championship finals. Fox clocked a time of 4:51.17 while Vassilakos completed her race in 4:51.61.

The Wayne State University relay team comprising Barbara Munoz, Sabine Branford, Fox, and Vassilakos finished in 18th place in the 200 free relay event with a time of 1:34.23.

Looking ahead to Saturday's events for Wayne State University are Bradford competing in the 100 free; Elly Belmore in the 200 back; Megan Sieloff and Fox in the initial heats of the 1650 free; followed by Vassilakos and Munoz participating in the final heat of the timed finals for the same event. Mikaela Senkus will compete in one-meter diving.

Additionally, Wayne State University's quartet is ranked at number eleven heading into what will be the concluding women's event of these championships—the highly anticipated final of the 400 free relay.
