Three Wayne State University athletes have been recognized with the GLIAC Commissioner's Award, as announced by the league office. The award is given to six male and six female student-athletes who excel both academically and athletically.
The recipients from Wayne State are graduate student swimmers Jordan Fox and Trevor Jones, along with junior men's fencer Eyad Marouf. Each of these students has demonstrated outstanding achievements in their respective sports while maintaining strong academic records.
Jordan Fox has made history by becoming the first Warrior to receive the GLIAC Commissioner's Award three times in its 17-year history. In 2024, she was named GLIAC Swimmer of the Year after winning five conference titles and setting three records. Fox has earned numerous accolades throughout her career, including being a 21-time All-American and a recipient of several academic honors.
Trevor Jones received his first GLIAC Commissioner's Award this year. He completed his bachelor's degree in finance at WSU in December 2023 and has achieved significant success in swimming competitions. Jones is an eight-time All-American, having participated in multiple events at both the NCAA Championships and GLIAC Championships.
Eyad Marouf is notable for being the first fencer from Wayne State to earn a GLIAC Commissioner's Award since non-GLIAC sport participants became eligible. Marouf's accomplishments include helping WSU achieve high placements at fencing championships and earning First Team All-America honors. Academically, he maintains a strong GPA while studying Biological Sciences.
Wayne State University ranks second among schools that have received this award over its history, with 80 total selections. The women's swimming/diving program leads with 16 honorees, followed by men's swimming/diving with 15 recipients.
