Wayne State softball splits doubleheader at Davenport

Wayne State University's softball team split a doubleheader against Davenport University in Caledonia, Michigan. The Warriors lost the first game 3-2 in extra innings but came back to win the second game 11-5.

In the first game, both teams remained scoreless until the fifth inning when Wayne State's Abby Favela hit an RBI single. Davenport tied the game in the seventh and won it in the tenth with a two-run single by Sophia Propps. Sasha Buckberger pitched for Wayne State, allowing three runs on nine hits over nine-plus innings.

In the second game, Wayne State started strong with a run in the first inning and five more in the third. They added another five runs in the sixth inning. Alexis Bonk pitched a complete game for Wayne State, giving up five runs on ten hits.

"Josephson went 3-for-4 with a run scored," was noted as part of Wayne State's offensive highlights, while "Gills and Propps each had two hits" led Davenport's efforts.

Wayne State will next face Ferris State on Tuesday and Grand Valley State on Wednesday.
