Four athletes from Wayne State University's women's track team participated in the GVSU Extra Meet on Thursday evening. The event was held in Allendale, Michigan.
Junior Reagan Justice from Canton, Michigan, achieved an NCAA Provisional time in the 5K with a record-breaking performance of 16:41.76. This time ranks her 31st this season in NCAA Division 2 and surpasses the previous school record of 16:52.95 set by Chelsea Johnson at the Raleigh Relays in 2015.
In another event, redshirt senior Thailyia Christensen from Flushing, Michigan, secured sixth place in the steeplechase with a time of 10:39.55, slightly behind her season-best of 10:37.86.
Junior Emily Gordon from Northville, Michigan, finished eighth in the 800m run with a time of 2:13.61.
Redshirt senior Katherine Ray from Novi, Michigan, completed the 1500m run in 4:45.86, earning her a 17th-place finish and placing ninth in school history for that event.
The majority of Wayne State's track team will compete at the Concordia Alumni Legacy Meet on Saturday, April 27. Meanwhile, throwers Kaleigh Flowers and Peyton Hansen are scheduled to participate today (April 26) in hammer and javelin events respectively.
