The Wayne State University women's golf team is positioned second after the first day of competition at Walsh's Cavalier Classic, held at Glenmoor Country Club in Canton, Ohio. The Warriors posted a score of 318 (+30), just one stroke behind the leading team, Franklin Pierce.

Beca Vestman from Madrid, Spain, led the Wayne State team with a round of 75 (+3), placing her second individually. Head coach Larry Hamilton expressed optimism about their performance: "We saw really great first rounds from Rebeca (Vestman) and Mai (Hezri) today," he said. "We are only one shot back, so I feel like if we clean up some of our chipping and putting tomorrow, we will be in a good position come the end of the day."

Other notable performances for Wayne State included Maisarah Hezri from Sungai Petani, Kedah, Malaysia, who finished third with a score of 76 (+4). Clarita Laffitte from Montevideo, Uruguay recorded an 83 (+11), while Sabel Imesch from Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan scored an 84 (+12). Logan Potts from Norton Shores, Michigan competed as an individual and tied for 19th with an 85 (+13). Orianna Bylsma from Montague, Michigan ended the day tied for 32nd with a score of 88 (+16).

The current standings show Franklin Pierce in first place with a score of 317 (+29), followed by Wayne State at 318 (+30). Ohio Dominican holds third place with a score of 322 (+34).
