Wayne State University is set to conclude its regular season with two home games against Michigan Tech and Northern Michigan. The Warriors will face the Huskies on Thursday, February 22, at 5:30 p.m., followed by a matchup against the Wildcats on Saturday, February 24, at 1 p.m. These games will be held at the Wayne State Fieldhouse.

The women's basketball team will honor seniors Kate McArthur and Becca Fugate before Saturday's game. McArthur has played in 93 games since transferring from Central Michigan in 2020-21, contributing significantly with three-pointers, steals, and assists. Fugate recently became the 19th player in school history to reach 1,000 career points and holds the record for most games played at Wayne State.

Michigan Tech leads the all-time series against Wayne State with a record of 47-21 but lost their last encounter in December. Meanwhile, Northern Michigan has a slight edge over Wayne State with a series record of 36-27; however, they defeated Wayne State earlier this season.

Currently seeded fifth in the GLIAC standings with an 8-6 record, Michigan Tech is trailing closely behind Wayne State for home-court advantage in the league quarterfinals. Junior guard Isabella Lenz leads MTU in scoring and assists while maintaining a high free throw percentage.

Northern Michigan sits third in the GLIAC standings ahead of Wayne State with a league record of 10-4. Senior guard Makaylee Kuhn is NMU’s top scorer and also ranks high in rebounding and assists within her team.

Last week saw mixed results for Wayne State as they won against Lake Superior State but fell short against Ferris State during their Play4Kay Foundation event supporting cancer awareness.

Wayne State currently stands fourth in conference rankings with a GLIAC record of 9-6. Their ability to maintain leads has been crucial this season as they have secured victories when leading or tied at halftime.

Nationally ranked for several statistics such as bench points per game and field goal percentage, Wayne State continues to perform well across various categories within the GLIAC too. Shea Tripp leads conference statistics for steals per game while Kate McArthur excels in assists.
