The Wayne State University women's golf team is set to conclude its 2023-24 regular season at the Cavalier Classic, hosted by Walsh University. The event will take place over two days at Glenmoor Country Club in Canton, Ohio.
The Warriors' lineup includes Maisarah Hezri from Malaysia, Beca Vestman from Spain, Sabel Imesch and Orianna Bylsma from Michigan, Clarita Laffitte from Uruguay, and Logan Potts also from Michigan who will compete as an individual.
In their previous outing at Bowling Green's Dolores Black Falcon Invitational, Wayne State finished 13th out of 14 teams. They were the only Division II school competing and concluded with a score of 636 (+60). Pennsylvania University won the event with a score of 579 (+3), leading by ten strokes over Harvard. Hezri was Wayne State's top performer, finishing tied for 27th with rounds of 76 (+4) and 77 (+5).
Last season at the Cavalier Classic, Wayne State secured third place among twelve teams with a total score of 650 (+74). Avery Howard led the team individually in sixth place with a score of 156 (+12), followed by Imesch in eleventh place and Vestman in twenty-first.
This season, Hezri and Vestman have been standout players for Wayne State. Both are tied for the team's best scoring average at 76.4. Hezri has achieved two top-10 finishes and five top-25 finishes this season, while Vestman has recorded two top-10 finishes and six top-25 finishes.
