Senior Daniel Grey and junior Cedric Drenth from Wayne State University's men's tennis team have been recognized as First Team Academic All-Americans by College Sports Communicators (CSC). This marks the second time both athletes have received this honor. Grey was previously named to the Second Team last year, while Drenth was last year's CSC Academic All-American of the Year.

Grey, a four-time All-GLIAC performer and three-time First Team recipient, finished his final season with impressive rankings, holding the No. 3 ITA singles spot in the Midwest Region and No. 4 nationally. He achieved a record of 22-8 in singles play for the season, securing second place on Wayne State's career wins chart with an overall record of 86-29.

In doubles, Grey and Drenth ranked No. 1 nationally and compiled a season record of 33-10. Their career records stand at 104-36 for Grey and 97-30 for Drenth, making them leaders in doubles victories at their school.

Grey's academic achievements include being a three-time ITA All-Academic Scholar-Athlete, a member of the GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team thrice, a two-time D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award winner, and a recipient of the GLIAC Commissioner's Award for 2022-23.

Drenth has also been named to the All-GLIAC team each season during his tenure at Wayne State, with two First Team selections. He was ranked sixth regionally in singles by ITA and fifteenth in Division II. In the recent season, he lost only four out of his 31 singles matches and is third in WSU history for singles wins with an overall record of 82-25.

Academically, Drenth is recognized as an ITA All-Academic Scholar-Athlete twice over, part of the GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team twice over as well, and earned the D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award for 2022-23. He was also named WSU Male Student-Athlete of the Year for 2022-23.
