The Wayne State University men's golf team is positioned ninth in an 18-team competition at the UIndy's Ken Partridge Invitational held at Purgatory Golf Club. The Warriors posted a score of 312 (+24) on Sunday, with Josh DiCarlo leading individually by tying for 12th place with a three-over-par score of 75.

"We battled winds in excess of 30 miles an hour and really lost our focus on the front nine," said head coach Mike Horn. "We certainly brought it back on the second nine. We have a lot of work to do the next two days, but we are capable and ready to do so. The teams that went out early certainly had the advantage, and we need to really play hard the next couple of rounds."

Other notable performances from Wayne State included Mat Hawryluk, who tied for 33rd with a score of 78 (+6), Adam Burghardt in a tie for 43rd with a score of 79 (+7), Ian Smith tying for 56th at 80 (+8), and Max Leppelmeier finishing tied for 77th with an 82 (+10).

Grand Valley State leads the team standings with a score of 295 (+7). Missouri-St. Louis and UIndy are tied for second place, each scoring 301 (+13). Other top performers include Missouri S&T at fourth place with a score of 303 (+15) and Findlay rounding out the top five with a score of 305 (+17).

The tournament will continue over the next two days as teams aim to improve their standings.
