Wayne State University's men's golf team is set to compete in the NCAA Tournament for the 16th time since 2004. The Warriors will enter as the fifth seed in the Midwest Region, with the fields for the four Super Regionals announced recently.

The NCAA selects ten teams from each of eight regions to participate in one of four "super regionals," where each region is paired with another to form a 20-team field. The Midwest Region will be grouped with the Central Region, hosted by Southern Nazarene. The competition will take place at KickingBird Golf Club in Edmond, Oklahoma, from May 9-11.

Head coach Mike Horn expressed his pride and anticipation: "It is an honor to represent the Warriors in the NCAA Tournament again. We have a team that is poised to take the next step and all we've been discussing is how we prepare ourselves, how we handle the situation and how we achieve our goals. We are ready to give our best effort and to try to make it to the national finals."

In last year's super regional, Wayne State placed 10th out of 20 teams with a score of 886 over three days.

Following 54 holes of stroke play, five teams and two student-athletes not affiliated with a team from each regional will advance to the NCAA finals on May 21-25 at Orange County National Golf Center and Lodge in Winter Garden, Florida. Rollins College and the Greater Orlando Sports Commission will host these finals.

During the finals, all participating teams and individuals will complete another round of 54 holes of stroke play. An individual champion along with finishers ranked second through tenth will be declared based on cumulative scores and any tiebreakers. The top eight teams after these rounds will be seeded into a bracket for head-to-head medal play.

The quarterfinal pairings are determined by seeding: Seed #1 versus Seed #8, Seed #2 versus Seed #7, Seed #3 versus Seed #6, and Seed #4 versus Seed #5.
