Wayne State University's Daniel Grey has been awarded the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Men's Tennis Player of the Week for the fourth time this season. The announcement was made by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.

Grey played a key role in Wayne State's recent home matches against Grand Valley State and Ferris State. Ranked eighth in Division II singles, Grey achieved victories over two nationally ranked opponents according to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's computerized rankings.

In a match against GVSU on April 12, Grey defeated Denys Zamaraiev with set scores of 6-4, 3-6, and 6-1. On April 14, he overcame Esunge Ndumbe from FSU with scores of 6-4, 6-3. Both matches were played at the No. 1 position where Grey holds a record of 14-5 for the season and an overall record of 15-5. His performance in the GLIAC remains unbeaten at 4-0.

Grey also teamed up with Cedric Drenth to secure a doubles victory against Sean Miller and Victor Lopes from Grand Valley State, marking their 13th win together this spring season.

This marks the seventh time this season that a Wayne State tennis player has received this recognition. Alongside Grey's four awards, Cedric Drenth has been honored twice and Dom Spicer once.

Overall, this is Grey’s sixth career Player of the Week accolade.

The Warriors are set to conclude their regular season with matches against Purdue Northwest on April 19 and Davenport on April 20.
