Wayne State University's baseball team is set to face Saginaw Valley State University in a crucial match on Tuesday at 3 p.m. The game will take place in University Center, with the Warriors trailing the Cardinals by one game in the GLIAC standings. Wayne State holds a record of 20-10 overall and 9-4 in the GLIAC, while Saginaw Valley State stands at 21-9 overall and 10-3 in the conference.

The teams have met five times this season, all games held at Harwell Field. Their first encounter was on March 27, where Saginaw Valley emerged victorious with a score of 13-10. The Cardinals continued their winning streak in the next two games with scores of 8-0 and 5-1.

However, Wayne State made a comeback during Saturday's nightcap. Despite trailing by seven runs after four innings, they scored 14 runs between the fifth and eighth innings to win 14-9. This momentum carried into Sunday when they secured a 12-8 victory.

Wayne State's Ray was named GLIAC Player of the Week for his performance against Saginaw Valley State. He hit .583 over three games with an impressive .643 on-base percentage and a slugging percentage of 1.167. In Saturday's game, Ray achieved a personal best with four hits, including a go-ahead three-run home run that contributed significantly to their win.

Ray's efforts have raised his season average to .383, placing him eighth in the conference rankings. He also ranks fourth in slugging percentage (.617) and fifth in on-base percentage (.524).

After Tuesday's match against Saginaw Valley State, Wayne State has seventeen regular-season games remaining. Their schedule includes matches against Parkside, Northwood, Grand Valley State, Davenport, and Purdue Northwest.
