Wayne State University faced a narrow defeat against Davenport University in a baseball match on Friday afternoon. Despite leading 4-1 through the first four innings, Wayne State could not maintain their advantage, eventually losing 5-4 to Davenport.
The game began with Davenport taking an early lead by scoring in the first inning. Wayne State responded in the second inning when Logan Van Sicklen drove in Tony Hatzigeorgiou with a double, followed by Kyle Ray bringing Van Sicklen home with a single.
Owen Tuccinardi extended Wayne State's lead with a solo home run in the third inning, marking his second of the season. Mason McGuire added another run for Wayne State in the fourth inning, scoring Van Sicklen with a single.
Davenport gradually closed the gap by adding runs in both the fifth and seventh innings. The decisive moment came in the ninth inning when they managed to score twice through a combination of hits—a single, triple, and another single—securing their victory.
