Wayne State University's baseball team faced a challenging weekend, dropping their third consecutive game to Grand Valley State University on Sunday at Harwell Field. The final score was 8-2 in favor of Grand Valley State. This result brings Wayne State's overall record to 24-16 and their conference record to 13-9 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC). Meanwhile, Grand Valley State improved to 21-18 overall and 13-7 in the GLIAC.

Grand Valley took an early lead with three runs in the third inning, adding one more run in the fourth. They continued to extend their advantage with runs scored in the seventh, eighth, and ninth innings. Wayne State managed two runs during the game; one came in the sixth inning when Reagan Paulina hit a base knock that allowed CJ Maury to score. In the eighth inning, Mason McGuire scored from third base as Tony Hatzigeorgiou's pop-up resulted in an RBI despite a double play.

Seth Marano pitched five and two-thirds innings for Wayne State but suffered his second loss of the season. He allowed four runs, three earned, on ten hits while recording one walk and two strikeouts. Relief pitcher Gavin Nash gave up three earned runs on four hits over five outs, while Keegan Pulford-Thorpe allowed one unearned run during his time on the mound. Cam Rosen closed out by securing a strikeout for Wayne State's final out of the game.

Looking ahead, Wayne State will travel west next weekend for a four-game series against Davenport University.
