Redshirt junior forward Colin Golson, Jr. from Wayne State University's men's basketball team has been recognized as the GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week for the first time in his career. This accolade follows Golson's impressive performance, where he averaged a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds per game. He also maintained a shooting accuracy of 50 percent from the field and 88.9 percent at the free throw line.
Golson's noteworthy contributions began with a victory over Grand Valley State, ending in a score of 73-66. During this match, he achieved his third career double-double this season by scoring 10 points and securing 13 rebounds, marking a personal best. In another game against Davenport, which concluded with an 84-70 win, Golson added 12 points and seven rebounds to his record.
The Wayne State team is set to face Lake Superior State next, with the game scheduled for Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
