Wayne State's baseball team faced a narrow defeat against Parkside, losing 9-8 in the bottom of the ninth inning. The game concluded when Parkside's Owen Brock hit a groundball that led to John St. Clair scoring the winning run after an errant throw by Reagan Paulina.

The Warriors, now holding a 20-12 overall record and 9-6 in the GLIAC, will meet the Rangers again for a doubleheader on Saturday in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The Rangers stand at 15-15 overall and 4-8 in conference play.

Wayne State took an early lead with three runs in the first inning. Mason McGuire doubled in CJ Maury, followed by scores from Owen Tuccinardi and Drew Hill. Parkside responded with two runs in the third inning but Wayne State extended their lead with additional runs in the fifth and sixth innings.

In the fifth inning, Jacoby Dale scored following an error, while Kyle Ray added another run on a fielder's choice. Paulina contributed with a solo home run in the sixth inning, his second of the season.

Parkside narrowed Wayne State's lead to two runs with three unearned runs in the seventh inning due to Warrior errors. Despite regaining a three-run advantage briefly, Wayne State saw their lead vanish as Parkside tied it up at 8-8 before securing victory in the ninth.

Karter Fitzpatrick started for Wayne State, allowing five runs over seven innings with eight strikeouts. Gabe Nazelli and Gavin Nash pitched in relief, with Nash taking his first loss of the season.
