Wayne State volleyball team secures victory against Parkside

Wayne State University's volleyball team achieved a notable victory on Saturday by sweeping Parkside in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The match concluded with set scores of 25-18, 25-23, and 25-19, marking an important win for the Warriors as they completed the first half of their conference play.

Head coach Tim Koth commented on the team's performance: "It was a great response today after a tough night on the road last night. Our serve and pass game was much more in control today. I'm very proud of the effort by the Warriors today."

The Wayne State Warriors have now secured three consecutive wins following losses this season. During this match, they recorded a hitting percentage of .178 with 40 kills and 19 errors from 118 total attacks. Parkside managed a .092 hitting percentage with 33 kills, facing challenges with 22 errors over 120 swings.

Kayla Dulgar contributed significantly to the team's success with her sixth double-double of the season, achieving 28 assists and 12 digs. Kendyl Andrews also made an impact by reaching double-digit digs in all but three matches this fall. Kayla Giroux showcased her skills by hitting .409 with 11 kills and only two errors on 22 attempts.

In terms of individual achievements for Wayne State, Giroux led in kills with eleven, followed by Katie Smith with nine and Molly Miller with seven. Dulgar and Miller each scored two aces while Maya Wegand added one more to the tally. Giroux excelled defensively as well with five blocks.

Looking ahead, Wayne State will pause its league play to participate in the Midwest Regional Crossover scheduled for October 18-19 at Hammond Sportsplex in Indiana. The Warriors are yet to be informed about their opponents for this upcoming event.
