Wayne State University's volleyball team achieved a notable victory over Northern Michigan University, securing a straight-set win on Saturday at the Matthaei. This triumph marks Wayne State's second consecutive match win in straight sets, an accomplishment last seen in October 2022. The Warriors have now improved their record to 10-10 overall and 7-3 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

Head coach Tim Koth expressed satisfaction with his team's performance, stating, "Along with last night's performance against Michigan Tech, that was probably one of the top matches that we've played all season, today." He highlighted the team's progress since the start of the year and praised their hard work.

The match concluded with scores of 25-16, 25-23, and 25-23 in favor of Wayne State. The team recorded a hitting percentage of .378 for the match—a season high—compared to Northern Michigan's .263. Notably, Wayne State's offense was led by Kayla Giroux with 16 kills, Molly Miller with 15 kills, and Leigha Baldwin with 11 kills. These players posted impressive hitting percentages of .667, .448, and .529 respectively.

Kayla Dulgar contributed significantly on offense with 39 assists and two service aces. Maya Wegand also added two service aces to the team's tally. Defensively, Kendyl Andrews led with 12 digs while Giroux managed three blocks.

Wayne State will next face Ferris State University on Friday night in Big Rapids as they continue their GLIAC campaign.
