The 48th annual Wayne State University Athletics Hall of Fame induction ceremony was held on October 25, 2024, at The Eastern in Detroit. Among the inductees recognized was Ziad Elsissy, a notable figure in fencing.

Elsissy, who competed as a four-time fencing letterwinner from 2015 to 2018, achieved significant success during his collegiate career. He was named a three-time All-American and twice finished as the national runner-up in the sabre category in 2017 and 2018. In addition, he earned Second Team All-America honors with a seventh-place finish in 2015.

Throughout his time at Wayne State University (WSU), Elsissy set a program record with 332 victories in the sabre. His achievements included NCAA Midwest Regional titles in both 2015 and 2017, a runner-up position in 2018, and a third-place finish in 2016. Over four seasons at the NCAA Midwest Regional competition, he amassed a combined record of 34-8.

In his senior year at the NCAA Championships, Elsissy recorded a score of 19-6 with +41 touches. The previous year saw him achieve a score of 16-9 with +30 touches. During his first NCAA Championship appearance in 2015, he posted a score of 14-9 with +19 touches. Overall, across three NCAA Championship appearances, Elsissy accumulated a record of 49-24 with +90 touches. Notably, he missed the championships in 2016 to participate in an Olympic qualification event for Rio.

Elsissy's redshirt freshman year concluded with a record of 56-16. The following season he won an impressive 74 out of his total bouts. In the subsequent years of competition including the NCAA Championships, he achieved records of 100-16 and later improved to reach over one hundred wins as a senior.

Hailing from Alexandria, Egypt, Elsissy reached the pinnacle ranking of No.1 globally in fencing by the year 2024 and participated in two Olympic Games finishing fourth in men's sabre at Paris's event that same year. On an international level beyond Olympics participation, he claimed victory at several championships including winning titles such as African Zone Championship (2023), Arab Championship (both individual & team events -2023), Mediterranean Sea Championship (2022) along being World Championship bronze medalist(2023).

Academically inclined alongside athletic prowess; majoring Mechanical Engineering while attending WSU—he became twice recognized CoSIDA Academic At-Large All-American receiving Second Team honors back then when First Team selection occurred during prior period i.e.,in earlier times like around late teens’ era precisely somewhere near mid-late decade circa say seventeen-ish timeline approximately speaking so far now looking retrospectively indeed overall thus far until presently here now today onward evermore eventually moving ahead forwardly going further still beyond this point onwards continuously thereafter indefinitely forever henceforth eternally unendingly ad infinitum amen...
