Wayne State University's men's cross country team secured the 16th position at the NCAA Midwest Regional Race held in Romeoville, Illinois. The event took place at the Lewis Cross Country Course, hosted by Lewis University.

The Warriors fielded seven athletes for the competition: Carson Nicoletti, Sean Pettis, Ty Nagy, Brady Heron, Jared Platt, Tyler Brothers, and Tyler Buchanan. Carson Nicoletti led the team with a time of 31:35.24, finishing 21st and earning All-Region recognition.

Sean Pettis followed as the second Warrior to complete the race in 67th place with a time of 32:31.78. Ty Nagy finished in 90th place at 32:56.11. Completing the scoring for Wayne State were Brady Heron in 109th (33:18.94), Jared Platt in 111th (33:20.57), and Tyler Brothers in 112th (33:20.76). Unfortunately, Tyler Buchanan was unable to finish due to an ongoing injury.

Head Coach Grant Lofdahl commented on his team's performance under challenging conditions. "The guys did the best they could under difficult circumstances," he said. "Tyler Buchanan has been nursing an injury for a couple of weeks and gave it a shot today but couldn't finish." He praised Nicoletti's performance saying that he "stepped up and ran the race of his life."

Reflecting on the season's challenges and future prospects, Lofdahl stated, "This season did not go as we hoped when we got started back in August." He acknowledged that while they will miss their seniors, "the future for our returners is very bright."
